Œuvres sans visuelWorks without a still
"Cinematography of virtual matter" was an on-going research playground in which I created multiples works through out 2022 and 2023. The main focus was the creation of a virtual studio in which the camera and lights remains parametric and dynamic.
This corpus brought together installations, animations and performances. The screens act as a fragmented portal to a world in motion, where I explore technological resistance to create moments of ambiguity and imperfection through the use of motion capture.
This interface, both software and hardware, lead to an exploration of organic forms and how they behave in the virtual world.
Both familiar and uncanny, the glitch aesthetic resulting from these manipulations is what I call a "virtual matter". The artworks that emerge from this open, vulnerable system are merely traces of this research, rather than an end in itself.
